I often get asked what kind of music do I listen to? Other than the “what do you do for a living” question, I find this one the hardest to answer. Music is nutrition for my soul and has been a constant companion since I was a child. The music I listen to often serves a specific purpose.
For example a perfect backdrop for long coding sessions, or a tapestry of uncharted soundscapes to provide escapism for the night.
Here is what I am enjoying the most right now.

When I was eight years old, my Grandmother told me: if you don't carry a book in your hand at all times, the world will not take you seriously. Since then, I have been a
voracious reader. I usually read about 2-3 books a week; one in audio format, one to calm my mind before I sleep, and one for personal growth. Here is my current recommended book to check out.

Film have such a strong influence on me. I find that the movies I love and hold dear to my heart are my therapy films. I watch these films over and over again and they remind me of
not just what I should be doing in life, but also philosophical frameworks I should be operating in. Here are the latest movies/series/films that I'm currently in to.

Chances are if you have met me or spoken to me in real life, you will understand how passionately I am about gaming and game design. As far back as I can remember, my life has been filled with gaming...from
learning math through playing DnD, getting over a heart-wrenching break-up by playing weeks of Final Fantasy 7, to working in the gaming industry. I fill my free time with creating and playing games. I also have found
gaming should be shared with others. I achieve this by involving my friends and students in creating games. Here is a list of projects that I am working on and have worked on.

The genesis of the Board State Podcast was to continue a dialogue between my friend, artist and game designer Jon Hernandez, after we left a board gaming convention years ago. Jon and I had a natural rapport and
chemistry and we can talk about games for hours and hours! A little later, reknown local Hawaii artist, Alika Spahn Naihe, joined the crew. In the Board State Podcast, we review games through the lens of game design. Like all great
conversations, the magic happens when we go off topic which we do tend to do 75% of the time.
